This banner was made with origami puffy hearts. There are many tutorials for them online however, I strongly suggest watching this tutorial by paper kawaii. Since I decided to string up my hearts I added a drop of glue in the pockets at the bottom of the heart on the last step. This gave my hearts a little more stability overall.
Making the hearts
As you will notice my banner is made out of three sizes of hearts. I actually used computer paper (8.5″ X 11.5″) and cut it down to various sizes. I used stamps and pink ink on my paper but you can also print your own. If you google “free printable origami paper” you will find a plethora of options to choose from.
Large heart : 8.5″ square
Medium heart: 5.5″ square (you can cut two per page)
Small heart: 4.25″ square (you can cut four per page)
Stringing the hearts
You will need:
1 large heart
4 medium hearts
6 small hearts
Yarn ( I suggest pink or red )
Step One: Lay the hearts out in the order you want to string them. ( Small, Med. , Small, Med., Small, Large, Small, Med., Small, Med., Small)
Step Two: String the hearts with a crochet hook to pull the yarn through the openings at the top.
Step Three: Once all of the hearts are strung go back through and add a drop of glue where the yarn and paper overlap in order to hold the hearts in place.
